Privacy & Cookies Policy for Cambridge English Online Ltd.

Privacy matters to us but we know it can be a little confusing. This page explains our approach to privacy and Cookies on our website/apps and how it might affect you.

We don’t collect statistics about your visit, but some 3rd parties like Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Google, Linked in, Apple or Google Play for example may know you visited this website/downloaded an app via cookies etc. We can’t control them but we don’t believe this knowledge poses any threat to you.

What are cookies?

Cookies are pieces of code installed in the browser that help the site/app owner, or third party tools to provide the service according to the purposes described. Some of the purposes for which the Cookies are installed may also require the User's consent.

How can I manage the installation of Cookies?

You can manage your Cookie preferences directly from within your own browser and prevent – for example – third parties from installing them. Through the browser preferences, it is also possible to delete Cookies installed in the past, including the Cookies that might possibly have saved the consent for the installation of Cookies by this website. Users can find information about how to manage Cookies in their browser at the following addresses: Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Apple Safari and Microsoft Windows Explorer.

In the case of services provided by third parties, Users can exercise their right to withdraw from the tracking activity by utilizing the information provided in the third party’s privacy policy, by clicking the opt-out link – if provided – or by contacting the third party. Here are some of the more common ones:

In addition, you may take advantage of: Your Online Choices. This service allows Users to select their tracking preferences for most of the advertising tools. The Owner thus recommends that Users make use of this resource in addition to the information provided in this document.

Measuring our visitors

We measure visitors to our website/apps using Google Analytics/Google Ad Sense/Apple iTunes Connect. This records what pages you view within our site/certain apps, how you arrived at our site, which of our app pages you looked at, which of our apps you downloaded and a bit of basic information about your computer/device. All of that information is anonymous – so we don’t know who you are; just that somebody visited our site/downloaded an app or clicked on an ad.

The information we collect from analytics and the similar sites mentioned above helps us understand what parts of our sites are doing well, which apps are more popular or which pages people are more likely to view ads on as well as how people arrive at our site and so on. Like most websites/apps, we use this information to make our website/apps better.

You can learn more about Google Analytics or opt out if you wish.

Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Add This, Linked in and other social/sharing networks

These services provide social/sharing buttons and similar features which we use on our website/apps – such as the “Like”, “Tweet” and share buttons.

To do so we embed code that they provide and we do not control ourselves. To function their buttons usually know if you’re logged in; for example Facebook have buttons that say “ABC of your friends like this”, or you may leave a reply to a comment/tweet etc. We do not have any access to that information, nor can we control how those networks use it.

Social/sharing networks therefore could know that you’re viewing this website/using a certain app, if you use their services (that isn’t to say they do, but their policies may change in the future). As our website/apps are purely for education/fun we imagine this is not a concern for most of our users.

Emails

If you do communicate with us via email we will never provide your personal information or email address to any third parties except if you provide us with your consent.

Updates to this policy

We may update this privacy policy from time-to-time, particularly as technology changes. You can always check this page for the latest version.
